Monte Rosa Tuesday

Tuesday early morning: beautiful view of Matterhorn (4477.5 m) (sorry for the cablecar lines).

Are you hungry? Would you like to break a piece of the Matterhorn and eat it? No, the real Matterhorn is not made of chocolate, it's not a huge Toblerone sprinkled with powdered sugar :)

The group is ready for the long week ahead of us.

More view of Matterhorn. There is mountain hut on the right side of Matterhorn. Can you spot it? It's on the saddle in the right lower corner of the picture before it gets really steep. It might help to enlarge the picture.

This is the end of the tunnel which takes you up to here, Kleiner Matterhorn (3883 m). From here we start the first summit of our trip, Breihorn.
Somebody camping in the middle of the glacier. Maybe an American? Sorry, just kidding ;)
Breithorn (4159 m), our peak for the day.

Claudia, enjoying the sunny weather.

We still hadn't reached the summit here. We are actually standing on a ridge ...
... as you can see. Claudia peeking from behind ...
... and again.
And all this was made possible by our mountain guide, Andi Maag.
The other rope team of our group is also making it to the summit lead by our mountain guide, Armin Steiner.
And as usual while standing on a peak (Breithorn, 4159 m) ... we enjoy the view!

The descent provides us with fantastic views of crevasses.

At this point we have crossed the border to Italy (oops, where's my ID?) and we are making our way to Rifugio delle Guide (3350 m) where we will spend our second night in the high mountains trying to get ride of a huge headache.
