Most part of our hike was in the fog, but at
8000 feet the mountain finally showed us its face.
This view reminds us why we came here and motivates us to continue
our trip.

Muir snowfield. On weekends an army of around 500 people walks walks on this
snow.

We have now reached Camp Muir (10000 ft, 3000 m) after four hours of ascent. This is the base camp
from which the summit attempt of Mt. Rainier is started.
Some climbers had set their tents, ready to summit the mountain during the coming night. Generally, climbers leave the camp at midnight, reach the summit between 7 and 8 am and get back around noon.

A group of ascending climbers while we were descending and about to re-enter the fog. We motivated them by telling that the sun is shining at Camp Muir.
The path is well marked with little flags stuck in the snow. Thus on clear sunny days you can easily find the trail by sight.
